Dhruv. This is the name of the forest officer played by Jayam Ravi in ‘Peranmai’. “Dhruv, along with five women, decides put an end to foreign mercenaries who try to destabilise our space research system. He is a man with a mission,” says the film’s director S P Jananathan.

Talking high about the Deepavali release and its hero, he says, “Ravi truly fits to the title ‘Peranmai’, which means a man who has complete control over his body and soul. You’ll realise it while watching the movie.”

Heaping more laurels on the actor, he says, “He has done an extraordinary job. His commitment and dedication are noteworthy. The workouts he did and the way he stuck to the diet are amazing. He is a director’s actor.”

Ask him whether the movie has any romance, Jananathan smiles and says, “One of five girls- Dhansika, Liashree, Maha, Saranya and Vasundhara- has a soft corner for Ravi. But he has no time for romance as he is on a mission.”

The filmmaker however guarantees that the comedy portion by Vadivelu and Urvasi would bring the house down. “Vidyasagar’s music is another highlight. On the whole, the movie produced by Ayngaran would be a wholesome treat,” he signs off.
